Gedanken zur CD “Fantasia”
Eine stringente Konzertdramaturgie beinhaltet wie im Theater viele Facetten und soll die seelischen Schätze aufdecken, welche in den aufzuführenden Werken schlummern. Wie ein surrealistisches Spiegelbild erwacht das Haiku, das traditionelle Genre der altjapanischen Poesie, zu neuem Leben, und dies ist der beste Beweis, wie verschiedene und gegensätzliche Elemente in Verbindung treten und eine neue Qualität generieren.

As in theater, tight-knit concert dramaturgy also contains many facets and ideally serves the revelation of Spiritual treasures which slumber in the work. Like a surrealistic mirror-image, the Haiku , the original genre of ancient Japanese poetry, is called to new life, testifying to the emergence of fresh new qualities engendered by the marriage of contrasting elements. Or, in visual terms: as do the diverse characters themselves pulsate in Fellini’s fantasy, likewise unconfined the music also flows. Walt Disney’s Fantasia is another example of kaleidoscopic juxtaposition in the arts, as is the Tarkovsky film “The Steamroller and the Violin” where, once again, it is alone the contrast which delineates the vitality of the action.

Am Anfang war das Publikum, und es war immer grenzenlos neugierig. Die Musen sahen, dass das gut war und dass die Künste nur so gedeihen konnten. Es reichte nämlich nicht, dass Hamlet das “Sein oder nicht sein” beschwor, die Leute wollten schon immer auch wissen, was Hamlets letzte Lektüre gewesen war, weil sie ihm nicht zutrauten, dass er seinen berühmten Spruch selbst erfunden hatte.

In the beginning was the audience arid it was infinitely curious. The muses saw that it was good, and that only in this manner could the arts flourish. They weren’t satisfied by Hamlet’s “To be or not to be” declamation. The people wanted to know what the last article was which Hamlet had read; they didn’t believe that he was the creator of his own famous words. For the violist it’s not a given that his construct can be delivered in such a stroke of genius; the materials at his disposal are not sufficiently varied.
